The shelter is on Calle Denis Papin, Poligono Industrial La Pedrera, Benissa. Our opening hours to the public 9.30am – 4.00pm Monday to Sunday.
We have capacity to take in a maximum of 50 dogs and these dogs are generally dogs that have been found wandering the streets, however we occasionally take in dogs from homes where the owners are no longer able to keep them for various reasons.
Volunteering opportunities
If you have spare time and want to help out at the shelter as a volunteer we always welcome new people to the shelter to help with various tasks. Walking the dogs is always an important part of the day for the dogs. If you are less able to walk, as the terrain can be a little rocky, you can come along and help with socialisation of the dogs we have in our care. A lot of them love to play in the outside areas and have cuddles too. Also bathing and grooming the dogs. There is always something to do to help make the day as pleasurable as possible for our residents.
Donations
At the shelter we are always in need of various donations such as leads, collars, treats, squeaky toys for the dogs to play with.
Shelter Staff
We are a team of 5 at the shelter, Billie-Jo, Rachel, Reece, Cynthia and Angie who all work to run the shelter as smoothly as possible and are responsible for the health and welfare of the dogs whilst in our care. Each one of us brings various skills and experience to the shelter to enable us to offer the best care possible for the dogs.
We also have a team of wonderful cleaners who come every day and without whom we would be lost. They ensure that all the inside kennels where the dogs sleep at night are cleaned every morning, and supplied with fresh water and new bedding to ensure the dogs have the most comfortable night’s sleep.
