On Thursday Morning AKIRA was called to pick up a dog who was in a poor condition. Nothing could prepare the staff member for what was in store this poor dog looked lifeless and completely emaciated we can only imagine what this poor creature has had to ensure during his life. The team did not hesitate but took him straight to the local vets so he could be assessed. As suspected Harvey didn’t have a microchip so there is no potential owner to contact.
The vets took blood tests from Harvey and it appeared his organs were still functioning better than expected so the decision was made with discussions with the vet to perform a blood transfusion.
We had to find a healthy 25kg dog to help and Cam stepped in. There was no side effects from the transfusion and now Harvey has a fighting chance.
Harvey has since been given an IV filled with Iron, Vitamins and nutrients to give him all the support and help he needs. We don’t know what will happen and we just ask for positive thoughts for Harvey. We will continue to follow the lead of the vets and update his story via our social media channels to keep everyone posted good or bad.
We have been overwhelmed by the support that has been given emotionally and financially. It means a lot to the team and now we just have to wait and hope that Harvey will pull through.
