I know we have a fair few foster requests at the moment, but we do only ask for foster in extreme cases where medical needs take precedence, and sometimes the medical reason is for the dog’s mental health as well as physical. Kobi is struggling a lot in the shelter, which means he can be quite erratic, however we have taken him out and away from the shelter for respite. The change in him, well, words can not portray the drastic mood shift in his behaviour, and his demeanour was totally different in a positive way. He came alive,  as you can see by clicking HERE and we saw the real Kobi, we hope that if we could find the right foster home, it would help him flourish while we look for the right family. Having Information from a foster family would really help this process too to find the right family.
Kobi knows lots of cues; he has clearly had training in his past. He loves the ball, and playing and bringing back the food balls, as in the video, is one of his favourite games and really stimulates him mentally. We can provide these toys for you and, of course, any advice that you need to help him relax and grow. When he arrived, due to his stress levels, he had stopped eating food, and he had muscle wastage in his back legs. We are pleased that he is happy enough at the shelter that he has regained his appetite, and he does love going out on walks. The problem is he just gets so stressed within the shelter atmosphere. Seeing so many other dogs and being confined all makes it difficult to get him ready for a walk. Something which would be different in a home.
We do need a home that is cat—and child-free. If you can offer him a chance and want to discuss all of the details or come and meet him, you can come to the shelter between 10:00 and 15:00. You can also email akirashelter@aol.com or Whatsapp at 657 68 95 67. He is fully vaccinated and castrated, with a microchip and passport.
It would only be temporary but it could change his life permanently for the better.
